When you phone the main surgery number, 01873 810255, in normal surgery hours, you will be greeted by a recorded message asking you to choose from 1 of 4 options:
- Press option 1 for appointments, if you are calling to make a routine (non-urgent) appointment, you will be asked to call back after 10am
- Press option 2 for the district nurse
- Press option 3 for dispensary (after 10am)
- Press option 4 for test results, available only after 2pm daily
All appointments will be triaged, so please be prepared to describe your symptoms to the receptionist, we will then be able to direct you to the most appropriate clinician in the most timely manner. If calling to make a routine (non-urgent) appointment, you will be asked to call back after 10am.
This system has improved the efficiency of our switchboard operation, allowing patients to access more quickly the appropriate departments within the surgery. From 6:30pm to 8am (and all day on weekends and bank and public holidays) you will hear a recorded message giving you the option to transfer to the doctors out of hours service.
Branch surgery
All calls to our branch surgery are answered by one of the receptionists during surgery hours. Outside the branch surgery opening times, calls are automatically diverted to the main surgery switchboard or, if between 6:30pm to 8am, you will be given the option to transfer to the doctors out of hours service.
