Ordering Medication
As of 1st July, we will NO LONGER be able to accept prescription requests over the telephone.

We will be resorting back to our original ordering methods which consist of Email, My Health Online or something in writing posted through the surgery letterbox.

Due to the current high demand please allow 4 working days for your prescription to be processed.

At this time repeat Prescriptions can be ordered by the following means:

Patients who normally drop their repeat slips into the Belmont Surgery in Gilwern are able to drop them into the Gilwern Chemist.

Dispensing patients can collect their Prescriptions from the Dispensary window to the side of the War Memorial Health Centre (next to the GP's parking area). 

The Dispensary opening times are now: 

9.15 am - 5.30 pm   

Please note the current opening times for local Pharmacies:

Boots Chemist         10 am - 12 pm    and    2 pm - 5 pm 

Gilwern / John Williams    9 am - 12 pm    and    2.15 pm  - 5.30 pm

Prescription Collections

Crickhowell Group Practice is working with Accessibility Powys to support patients in the local community, who are unable to attend to collect their Dispensed medication.

Patients wishing to use this service are to contact the group on:

07498 833 913 Between 9am and 5pm

You will be asked to supply some information to the group to assist in the collection. Thank you for your co-operation and support at this unprecedented time.

Important Information On How To Order Medication

This section gives information on how to order ANY medication. It doesn’t matter whether it is medication on repeat, acute, something you are trialling with the GP, something you had a year ago or something you have just forgotten to order. The process is always the same.

How To Order

Place your ticked repeat slip in the wooden collection box in the foyer. Do Not hand in to the dispensary.


Write your name, date of birth and what you need on any slip of paper and place it in the wooden collection box in the foyer. Do Not hand in to the dispensary.

Requests MUST be put in writing.  We CANNOT accept medication requests of any kind over the phone.


Please remember that all prescription requests take

48 working hours to process

We cannot guarantee the availability of any prescription if this 48 hour requirement is not adhered to.


This 48 hours is used to check if the item requested is okay to be issued and that any required monitoring is up to date. The prescription is then printed and sent to the GP for signing. The GP will make similar checks before signing the prescription and returning it to the dispensary. If the request is for something not on repeat the GP will need to investigate further before authorising a prescription. This process takes place between surgeries and house calls.


Prescriptions will be available for collection after 4pm on the designated day or any time thereafter.
