As of 1st July, we will NO LONGER be able to accept prescription requests over the telephone. We will be resorting back to our original ordering methods which consist of Email, My Health Online or something in writing posted through the surgery letterbox.

Due to the current high demand please allow 4 working days for your prescription to be processed.
At this time repeat Prescriptions can be ordered by the following means:
- Posting into the external post box at the War Memorial Health Centre
- Using your My Health Online account
- Emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (CRICKHOWELL Patients) email@example.com (GILWERN Patients - will go to Gilwern Chemist)
- Phoning between 9.15am-12noon - 01873 810255 and select option 3 for Dispensary (Only until 1st July 2020)
Patients who normally drop there repeat slips into the Belmont Surgery in Gilwern are able to drop them into the Gilwern Chemist.
Dispensing patients can collect their Prescriptions from the Dispensary window to the side of the War Memorial Health Centre (next to the GP's parking area)
The Dispensary opening times are now:
9.15 am - 1.00 pm
2.00 pm - 5.30 pm
Crickhowell Group Practice is working with Accessibility Powys to support patients in the local community, who are unable to attend to collect their Dispensed medication.
Patients wishing to use this service are to contact the group on:

You will be asked to supply some information to the group to assist in the collection. Thank you for your co-operation and support at this unprecedented time.
If you are on regular medication you may obtain a repeat prescription without having to see the doctor every time. To obtain repeat medication please indicate clearly on your repeat prescription slip what is required and then either post it to us or drop it into your usual surgery.
We will no longer be accepting Repeat Prescription Requests over the telephone.
Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration.
Allow 2 working days for your prescription to be processed.
Please also note:
- It is Practice policy not to issue more than one month’s medication at a time.
- If you no longer take medication that appears on your slip, please advise the doctor when you next see him/her.
- If you have more than one item on repeat prescription, please try to order all your medication at the same time.
For our non-dispensing patients, we routinely send all prescriptions to Boots Pharmacy in Crickhowell (or for Gilwern surgery patients to Williams the Chemist) but alternative arrangements can be made on request. Please ask at the dispensary for more information.
For our dispensing patients, your medication will be available for collection from the Dispensary or, if you live in Llangynidr and surrounding area and have signed up to our delivery service, your medication can be collected from the Walnut Tree Stores.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Information from Your Prescription
Until now we have used the following information from your prescription: -
- Which medicines were given
- Who prescribed the medicines
- Who dispensed the medicines
Until now we have not used information about you.
What will change?
In the coming months we will begin to use some data about you. This will be strictly limited to: -
- Your age
- Your gender
- The first part of your post code - e.g. CF5
Data that identifies you individually i.e. your name, address, date of birth or NHS number will NOT be used.
To allow us to do this, we are making an application to the Secretary of State for Health under section 251 of the NHS Act 2006 and Health Service (Control of Patient Information) Regulations 2002. If the application is granted this will give us statutory authority to use this information in this way.
Why do we need to use this information?
This information will be extremely valuable in helping us to: -
- Plan and improve services to patients
- Better understand the effectiveness of medicines
- Better understand the needs of patients in relation to medicines
- Protect patients from the risk of harm from inappropriate medicines
Who will see this information?
Access to this information will be strictly limited to NHS Wales staff who need to see it in order to make better informed decisions about medicines and patient services.
What will the data be used for?
Analysis of prescription data by age, gender and geographic location will help support NHS Wales’ understanding of the management of the health in specific areas of our population.
For example, in the elederly population in areas associated with an industrial past where there may be high rates of respiratory disease in the former mining communities. In addition it can inform the planning and management of services to meet the needs of children and younger people and safeguard their future health and well-being. For example, to monitor trends in the uptake of medicines for lifestyle issues such as obesity, alcohol, substance misuse and smoking cessation.
How can I be sure that I won't be identified in the data that is produced?
The data produced will be aggregated at a high level i.e. by age, gender and the first part of the postcode or "postcode district". So, for example, the data we produce may say something like "The drug Atorvastatin was prescribed 200 times to 50 males aged over the age of seventy in the postcode district CF5". To give you an idea of how broad an area this covers, on average, each postcode district contains around 8,000 delivery points.
